In the Know: Kaci Hollingsworth

A Conversation with Kaci Hollingsworth. . .

For our second edition of In the Know, we reached out to local realtor Kaci Hollingsworth.

1. What brought you to the Lowcountry?

I moved to Hilton Head about five years ago from Southern California. Even though I grew up on the west coast, and absolutely loved it out there, the Lowcountry is now my home. My first introduction to the east coast was attending the University of North Carolina as part of the diving team. After graduating from college, I moved to Savannah and eventually ended up on the Island. In fact, my parents and my sister (plus THREE nieces) live here too.

2. What do you do for a living?

I am a Realtor with Weichert Realtors Coastal Properties. Recently, I also became the Sales Manager for Weichert CP’s Bluffton Office.

3. How did you get started as a real estate agent?

My sister will tell you she is the reason I got into real estate. I really can’t argue with that, because it was her idea! A few things really drew me to the industry. The first being the harder you work, the more successful you will be. The second being it’s my actual job to go out and meet new people every day. Being a realtor is such a relationship based business, and I love that! Finally, all the personality tests I have ever taken reveal I operate best when I am in a service role. I love helping my clients buy and sell their homes.

4. What was it like moving to the Island as a young professional?

It was a little tough to find other young professionals on the Island five years ago, but now I am amazed at how many young professionals live here! It seems like there are so many different ways for young professionals to connect on the Island. I love being part of the Young Professional Network through the Hilton Head Area Realtors, as well as the Hilton Head/Bluffton Chamber’s Young Professional group.

5. It seems like this year has been a big year for you. What is the key to your success?

Big year indeed! I feel incredibly blessed and humbled by how my business has grown and how I have grown professionally within the Weichert organization. The approach I took last year was an “all-in” mentality – meaning I did everything I could to be involved in as many things as possible.

6. How have you been involved in the community during your time on the Island?

Like I mentioned earlier, last year I decided to really go all-in. I joined the Hilton Head/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, I become co-chair of the Young Professional Network through the Hilton Head Area Realtors, I began volunteering for Meals on Wheels, and was on two other committees at the Hilton Head Area Realtors. Getting involved in my community has been incredibly beneficial both personally and professionally.

7. Wow! How do you balance all of those activities on top of your job?

Ha! This is a question I get all the time, and I think my answer has been different every time I’ve answered it. Balance is honestly not something I am great at achieving, but I genuinely love what I do! The nature of my work ensures that every single day is different so I am always mixing it up, learning, and having fun. Also, I love training and working with new realtors in my role as Sales Manager for the Bluffton office.

8. What advice would you give someone just starting out as a real estate agent?

Make sure you join a company that offers a lot of support, training, and company generated leads to help you start your business the right way. I am 100% confident Weichert’s tools and systems are the reason I was able to be so successful starting out. Also, I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to find a mentor. You need someone to answer your questions and guide you along in the process. Finally, get plugged in to the community around you – this is how you are going to find leads.

9. What do you do for fun?

This sounds so cheesy, but I really enjoy selling real estate and helping my agents do the same! In the rare moments I find time outside of “work,” I enjoy relaxing with my pups, exploring our beautiful Island, playing golf, and of course, getting to the beach whenever I can.
