A Conversation with Lauren Williams . . .

Second up in our staff spot light is me, Lauren Williams. In case you are wondering, yes I am going to interview myself.

1. What is your official position with the law firm?

I have been an associate attorney with Russell P. Patterson, P.A. for three years. Oh, and for all of you out there wondering, yes, Russell is my dad. We are a fully functioning family business!

2. How long have you lived on Hilton Head Island?

I was born and raised on Hilton Head, but moved back full time about a year ago.

3. How have you seen the Island change over the years?

More than anything, I think Bluffton has completely changed. I am always surprised to hear about a new neighborhood or restaurant opening in Bluffton. I think it is a great time to be a young professional in the Lowcountry.

4. What is it like being a young professional on the Island?

It is much better than I originally anticipated. There are so many young people moving to the area. It has been fun to get to know other young professionals establishing their careers in the Lowcountry. Also, you can’t beat the work life balance.

5. What kinds of legal issues do you regularly handle?

I handle a lot of business litigation, foreclosures, tax sales, and Home Owners Association disputes. Also, I work on a large number of real estate closings each year.

6. What is the best part of your job?

I get to bring my dog to the office everyday! But seriously, I think the best part of my job is the variety of legal work I handle everyday. It’s always interesting and challenging.

7. How have you been involved in the community during your time on the Island?

I am currently part of the Hilton Head Leadership Program run by the Hilton Head/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. The Leadership Program does a community project each year and for our project we are building a sensory playground at Oscar Frazier Park. Also, I am on the board for the Hilton Head Island Land Trust.

8. What do you do for fun?

I really enjoy taking advantage of how easy it is to be on the water. Whether that means going to the beach or on a boat ride, it is always great to be on the water. Also, I love to travel and experience other places and cultures.
